Get Thomas Kinkade Vibes at this Highland Falls House: $510K

  |  August 3, 2023

Our stone-house tour this week continues with a three-bedroom in Highland Falls, Orange County, that resembles a Thomas Kinkade painting.

It’s got a small, covered back porch, a big side porch, and an elevated private deck.

It was built in 1933 and the stonework is intricate. The front steps could use some serious renovation, though.

The entry is inviting, with original hardwood floors and a nice staircase (that could stand some refinishing).

The living room is long, with neutral-toned wallpaper, a wall of built-in shelves, and a rocky fireplace. A mullioned-glass door is next to the fireplace, and goes out to that side porch.

On the other side of the foyer from the living room is a dining room.

It has a pair of built-in china hutches that flank a window seat.

The kitchen has true vintage details, including black-and-white tiling and this bank of wooden cabinets with Early American hardware.

The new owner might consider renovating this room—while hanging on to all of those original doors and their beautiful woodwork.

A half bath has a pocket door and beautifully preserved tilework.

The stairs lead up to a hallway that shows off more vintage doors, replete with glass doorknobs.

The full bath up here would be appreciated by old-home fans. Turquoise and black tile fills the walls, and black-and-white tile covers the floor. There’s a cast-iron soaking tub and a separate shower.

The bedrooms up here all have great woodwork.

Some of the floors need a refinish, but overall they are in good condition.

The third bedroom has wallpaper on the walls and a door…

…that leads to a private deck, where you get a peek of great mountain views. Exposed stone walls face a white-spindled railing that has green accents.

The house measures 1,768 square feet, and has a full, unfinished, walkout basement. The property totals 0.12 of an acre; it’s a two-minute drive to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and about 20 minutes to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. It has a new roof, and the price has been cut by $25,000.
