We like the Getaway Mavens. The bloggers have helped us find some cool spots all around the Northeast, some right in our own backyards. Turns out, according to their 2015 list of the Top 20 Most Popular Towns in the Northeast, a lot of people were interested in what was going on in Beacon’s backyard, at least in terms of sheer Google searches. The east-of-Hudson former mill town was searched more than any other northeast town during the year, and some of those couldn’t possibly have just been us.

Check out the Mavens’ romantic guide to Beacon that hits all the bright spots like the Dia:Beacon, Roundhouse, and Bannerman Castle for the more adventurous among us. Our favorites are some of their favorites, too, like Dream in Plastic and Long Dock Park for a stroll in the fresh air. Additionally, we would’ve added Pandorica (the Dr. Who cafe, just for the specific nerdiness of it), the weekend flea market (although it’s hit-or-miss, like every single flea market ever), and some cool old brick factory buildings. Here’s our guide to a Weekend in Beacon, originally featured in Upstater Magazine Summer 2015.
