Glamping Fantasy: Handmade Caravan/Vardo in Trumansburg NY
Kandy Harris | July 14, 2014“Where the heck is Trumansburg, NY?” We know you’re asking it, so we won’t hold you in suspense. Trumansburg is located on the west shore of Lake Cayuga. That’s the big Finger Lake right in the middle of the Finger Lakes, west of the Catskills into the Adirondacks. There, you’ll find this stunning hand-crafted Romany-style caravan wagon made by Jim Tolpin. The price tag is a steep $75,000, but oh, what a way to travel. So many cool details contained in such a small space: Wood stove in a copper lined cabinet, a pull-out table that doubles as a comfy looking bed, bay window, a sink area, Marine-grade canvas roof, and some beautiful hand-tooled woodworking. Want to see more? See more photos after the jump and resist the urge to drive across the state, hook it up to your truck, and just keep on going. More on the caravan wagon here.
