Grab This Stone Tudor in Balmville for the First Time in 103 Years

This home is extraordinary, in that it’s literally the first time it is on the market since it was first built in 1922. For real.
No joke. Crazy, right? This stone Tudor in Balmville was designed and built by architect Francis Abreu. The exterior exudes a moody feel for those of the old-home-buff ethos.
Plaster walls and timber accents give all the old-home feels (and that green wall-to-wall carpeting doesn’t hurt, either). The woodwork is intricate, down to the spindles at the foyer.
Within the plastered walls is a spattering of stone surrounding a small fireplace in the living room.
We adore all the nooks and corners adorned with original woodwork, like in the dining room.
Of course, there are areas that need to be treated with compassion, or a full-on renovation, like the kitchen.
All that green carpeting and stucco walls, though! So retro.
This room has promise, from its elegant hardwood flooring to its mullioned windows.
Lavender is the wall color choice in this bedroom, and it doesn’t exactly go with the fluffy carpeting. But this is where the new owner’s imagination comes in.
Tradtional tiling will be hard to let go of, if this bathroom undergoes a renovation.
This room just needs a paint job and new screens, in our opinion.
That wallpaper! That retro toilet-paper nook! Ugh…what to keep and what to demo in this bathroom?
So we’ve lost track of how many bedrooms/baths we’ve featured. Technically, the house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
And then we have this totally authentic 1970s room, right down to the wall paneling.
Oh, and there’s brick, too. Of course. Personally, the museum brain in us would hang on to at least some of these deets.
Ohhh, a screened porch, too? This elegant home in a jewel-like setting is listed for under a half-mil, so it won’t last long on the market.
