Green Dreams in Ulster County, NY
Kandy Harris | November 17, 2016
Ulster County is about to be thrust into the spotlight, and this time, it’s not because something crazy happened in Saugerties. The mid-Hudson Valley county located west of the Hudson River will be featured in National Geographic Magazine‘s December 2016 issue on a full-color, fold-out map called “Dreaming Green,” which touts the eco-friendly initiatives adopted by communities around the country. According to a press release from the Ulster County Exec’s office:
“The featured map…reflects our ecology, highlights conservation areas and includes a selection of the County’s environmental efforts. It also contains information on: the County’s work with Scenic Hudson as they create the John Burroughs Black Creek Corridor; the leading edge agricultural work taking place at the Hudson Valley Farm Hub, and the infrastructure improvements under the ‘Building A Better Ulster County’ initiative to widen road shoulders for pedestrians and bicyclists and connect trail networks.”
The December 2016 issue of Nat Geo featuring Ulster County drops onto newsstands at the end of November.
