Highland Falls Cape, $169,000Kandy Harris | October 11, 2013
Once again, we encounter the mysteries of real estate photography. We think this Cape is nice, but then again, there are only a few shots of the actual interior of the house, so who knows what state the kitchen and bedrooms are in? Instead there are shots of the water heater and the basement, which is fine. It’s clearly a very roomy basement. Perhaps we’re nuts, but we’d rather see what the kitchen looks like than the basement. Anyway, the house appears to be in fine condition, although the floor looks like it might need a little love. Location-wise, it abuts a swath of woods on West Point’s grounds, so while the lot is small, you still get your trees. And, as we’ve harped on over the week, the taxes in Highland Falls are toe-curlingly expensive. Nearly $15,000 for a house that’s less than $200,000 with a lot size of a quarter-acre? Wowzers.
