Kinderhook, in northern Columbia County, is today’s Upstater focus.

The c.1758 Tory House is on the National Register of Historic Places. Check out the intricate brickwork on the facade.

Colonial blue walls greet you from the red Dutch door.

Pumpkin-colored walls make the wide-plank floors glow in this living room, which has a brick-lined fireplace.

The hand-hewn beams in the living room repeat themselves in the dining room, which has another fireplace.

The eat-in kitchen is huge, with a wide, U-shape workspace and a breakfast bar supplementing the full dining table.

Modern touches include double wall ovens, a dishwasher, and a beverage cooler.

A double-door fridge is inset in the wall, flanked by built-in cupboards.

A brick wall in the kitchen has another fireplace and a nook for wood storage.

The family room has plenty of gallery space on the walls.

Two bedrooms are on the main level. This one has a vaulted ceiling…
