East Durham Cottage, $129,500
Kandy Harris | February 28, 2012
Sometimes, you have to get close to something to appreciate its value. Take this unassuming little 816-square-foot ranch house in East Durham. From a distance, it’s not that spectacular, but the devil truly is in the details with this place. Take a look, for example, at the cool stonework on the front entryway.

Humble, yes, but it was recently renovated, including a new kitchen updated with granite countertops. The hardwood floors are nice, too. It’s less than 1000 square feet, and sitting on a quarter of an acre, with a front deck and detached two-car garage. Not a lot of land or space, but not a lot of money, either.

Location-wise, it’s close to a couple of restaurants and a post office, plus the Catskill Creek is nearby. This house is on Route 145, which is the main drag, but East Durham is a quiet little town. We actually think the price is too high for this one, and you might be able to get it down to five-figure Fridays territory!
