It’s Castle Week!

Lord’s Castle, Piermont. It can be yours for a paltry $5.5 million
Sadly, Dundas Castle in Roscoe isn’t for sale, but it if were, we guarantee we’d be all over it this week as we explore the castles of the Hudson Valley and the Catskills. It’s true; if your fantasy is to live amongst the ivy-covered stone walls of a palace, your footsteps ringing through gargantuan hallways festooned with paintings of long-dead relatives, you have plenty of opportunities to do so in one of the castles we found on the market. Besides, what better way to spend this Halloween week but to look at old manses that seem ripe for ghostly apparition sitings and paranormal shenanigans?
Granted, it’s not like the area is lousy with castle after castle; we did have to broaden our search a little and explore a little further south, north, and west of where we usually explore, but it was fun. And while there seems to be a dearth of “reasonably priced palatial estates” on the market these days, it sure is fun to look at them, even (especially?) the ones in various states of disrepair. Like this one, located in appropriately-named New Scotland up near Albany:

Even the Google Map is cool and intriguing.
Do you live in a castle? Tell us about it! Know the hook-up for some sweet palaces or fancy chateaus? Let us know, dear readers!
