Large Stucco Home in the Sullivan County Hamlet of Mountaindale, $79,000
Kandy Harris | March 3, 2017We got a bit of a chuckle from the listing description, which leads with “Do not judge a book by its cover.” Here at Upstater, we know better than to do that, but honestly, we do not find the exterior that offensive. Maybe it’s because we’ve seen worse. So, so much worse than this house. Or, maybe it’s because we see gobs of potential here for a Catskills dream home. What do you think?
The home is a family-friendly size with 2000 square feet of space plus four bedrooms and three full baths. Included in the $39/square foot listing price: Large kitchen with formal dining room, hardwood floors, and a walk-up attic just begging to made into a guest room or home studio/office. While the house is in need of a stylish hand, it does have a new roof and new windows. Listing states it needs a new boiler and some of the copper is missing.
Lot size is over a half-acre in the Sullivan County hamlet of Mountaindale just east of Woodridge. It takes less than 2 hours to reach the city from here, and also convenient to Jersey and PA.
149 Main Street, Mountaindale (Century 21)
