Les Walker Contemporary, Olivebridge, $379,000
Kandy Harris | March 15, 2012
Don’t worry — we’ll get to some historic homes in Olivebridge soon, but there was yet another contemporary that caught our eye. This one was designed by architect Lester Walker, the same gentleman responsible for the Woodstock Playhouse, the Bear Cafe dining pavilion in Woodstock, and the Lazy Swan Country Club in Saugerties, not to mention one of the first people to write about tiny houses. While we like a lot of its features, it does have certain 1980s-ness about it (it was built in 1989) that’s hard to describe — the architectural equivalent of shoulder pads.

The house certainly does allow for letting in natural lighting, what with all the picture windows. And it sits on 12 acres far from the hustle and bustle. Check out the GMAP, and you will see a literal sea of green surrounding the property.

It’s far from everything and truly rural. It’s 45 minutes to Kingston from here, and 40 minutes to Phoenicia. But it’s just a few miles to the reservoir (which is a great place to take your bike, by the way, if you’re into that sort of thing).
