Let’s Look at Contemporaries in the Country
Kandy Harris | January 12, 2015This week on Upstater, we’re temporarily suspending our semi-obsession with old houses and focusing our attention on contemporary properties throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills. The category of contemporary architecture is a broad one and catches just about anything that was built in present times. For our purposes, that could mean a variety of styles of design sensibilities, from the tea-house inspired house depicted above to 1980s throw-backs with asymmetrical lines to recently-built farmhouses with old-fashioned elements worked in. Particular style elements of contemporary homes we love: Huge windows allowing in lots of natural light, high ceilings, open floor plans, and maybe some sustainable and environmentally-friendly elements, to boot. We’ll be posting contemporary properties throughout the week on Upstater, so stay tuned…
