Live Like a Mad Man in this Mid-Mod Contemporary on the Hudson River, $699,000

  |  February 16, 2017

This might be our favorite Mid-Century Modern of the whole week, and there were some real beauties in the real estate listings. The entire Hudson River-facing wall of this Nyack home is made of glass, which means that the living room has a view of the Hudson River that’s the size of a movie theater screen. Let that sink in for a minute.

Are you in love now? Yeah, us, too. The sunken living room is a nifty throw-back to the 1960s when this house was built, but here, you get the best of both retro kitsch and modern style. The rest of the room is open with hardwood floors and ample wall space. Note the floating staircase, as well as the floating cabinetry in the kitchen. Everything feels buoyant, like you’re floating out in the Hudson with the rest of the boats, which are docked just down the hill from here. Includes 3300+ square feet, 3 beds/2 baths, and a quarter-acre plot of land in nice residential neighborhood in South Nyack, Rockland County.

You’ll notice we didn’t include “privacy” as one of its attributes. With all that glass, it’s all out there in the open, especially during the winter months when the leaves are off the front yard trees. Bedrooms and upstairs are more private. And, we think it might be worth it for those million-dollar views.

Located west of the Hudson, less than an hour from midtown Manhattan if traffic is moving.

9 Edgewater Lane, Nyack (William Raveis Baer & McIntosh)
