Margaretville Mansion Walking Distance to Town, $799,000
Kandy Harris | July 1, 2014Yesterday, we looked at something more modest in Roxbury, so today, we have something a little more on the fancy side: A turn-of-the-century Victorian mansion perched on a hillside just down the road a piece from the village of Margaretville. Not surprisingly, we were immediately drawn in by the Gothic with a splash of Tudor look of the facade, and then we were enamored further by the wrap-around porch. While you might suspect the interior to be all dark wood, it’s actually bright and cheery with a few hints of color and contemporary design thrown in. This 4450 square foot beauty has a grand entryway, leaded glass windows, fireplaces, parlors, an in-ground pool, and a first floor sauna. The listing description has a lot of info about the property and calls it “the penultimate dream of a Catskill Victorian house.” If this is the penultimate dream, we can’t help but think that the actual ultimate dream must be really something.
