Local news outlets are reporting that of the billions of dollars awarded to NYS in economic development funds, the mid-Hudson is getting close to $100 million for a variety of projects, large and small, throughout the area. According to the lengthy 2015 Regional Economic Development Council Awards (Mid-Hudson starts on p.107), projects receiving funding include:

  • $1 million the second phase of Legoland development (site TBD, but we hear that Orange County is stumping heavily for it to be there)
  • $1.75 million for the Wildberry Lodge Resort and Waterpark in New Paltz
  • $500,000 for Orange County Rail Trail expansion
  • $100,000 for improvements to visitor access at Walkway Over the Hudson

In the mid-Hudson, 109 projects total will be receiving awards, including some for Kingston like the new RUPCO housing development in Kingston, improvements to UPAC, and a planned food market housed in the old Walgreens building in uptown Kingston. The Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, and Western NY were awarded the lion’s share of the state economic development aid.
