Salut! Here’s to a House in Hudson Valley Wine Country
Kandy Harris | May 27, 2019We can’t live on a Dutchess County, NY vineyard, sadly, but this Millbrook cottage makes it possible to live close to one.
This week on Upstater, we’re taking you on a tour of the places where the Hudson Valley grows the best grapes. You can skip bringing the Advil, though. Instead of sipping vino, we’ll be sampling our favorite real estate listings situated near some the area’s favorite wineries, vineyards, and, who knows? Maybe even a distillery, brewery, or cidery, too.
First stop on our tour: Millbrook, NY, on the east side of the Hudson River.
In addition to Millbrook Vineyards & Winery, which is ten minutes from this adorable cedar-shake cottage, Clinton Winery and Cascade Mountain Winery are both within a 20-minutes’ drive from here. What makes this region so hospitable to grape-growing? Its proximity to the Hudson River helps regulate temperatures, making it ideal for cool-climate grape varieties. It also just so happens to be some beautiful country side, perfect for anyone looking to settle down full-time or part-time.
Situated on nearly a half-acre just south of Millbrook village, the home comes with three bedrooms, two baths, and 1,824 square feet. It also features a light-filled main floor with large eat-in kitchen, a half bath/laundry room, a formal dining room, and living room with a wood burning fireplace.
Upstairs are where the three bedrooms are located, plus a full bath, home office, and access to the large walk-up attic. Step out onto the second floor balcony…
…which overlooks the big lower-level deck overlooking the spacious yard.
Millerton village amenities are practically steps away, as is the Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club right across the street. Non-wine-related attractions also nearby include Innisfree Gardens, Omega Institute, and the Trevor Zoo at the Millbrook School.
If you’re thirsty for more on-the-market homes in Hudson Valley Wine Country, stick with Upstater all this week!
