National Center for Arts Research: Hudson City Named in the Top 20 Vibrant Arts Communities in America
Staff | May 17, 2017The city of Hudson’s art cred just received another confirmation, this one from the National Center for Arts Research (NCAR). For the past three years, the research organization has been its Arts Vibrancy Index to measure whether communities all over the country embrace and support the arts.
Each community was categorized by large (population over 1 million), medium (population between 100,000 and 1 million), and small (population under 100,000 with an urban core of 10,000-50,000). The Columbia County city on the Hudson River, well known for its many galleries and general creative vibe, ranked among the top in the small cities category. Go Hudson!
NCAR based the rankings on measures of arts dollars, arts providers, government support, and socio-economic and other leisure characteristics. Go here to play with NCAR’s interactive map of arts vibrancy across the entire U.S. How does your town or city rank? Tell us in the comments!
