Just-Built Cabin in the Catskills, $69,900
Kandy Harris | June 1, 2020Forget about a run-down fixer-upper cabin as your getaway; this new cabin – situated in picturesque Purling, NY – was built just last year.
And, while it’s only 256 square feet total, the cabin makes up for its size with a 74,052-square-foot lot plopped right in the midst of some of Greene County, NY’s prettiest land. For anyone who loves to camp but hates to sleep on the ground, this is an ideal compromise, with the possibility of building a more spacious home (maybe with indoor plumbing!) in the future. Ready for the tour?
And that concludes our tour. It’s a single room with tongue-and-groove, knotty-pine walls and a floor that needs finishing. It is wired for electricity, though, and you can power it with a generator. The batten board siding and long-lasting roof shingles means that this new cabin will stand for quite some to come, and R21 insulation will keep things warm in the process. There’s even a room to install a wood stove.
On spring and summer nights, hang out in front of the firepit under a canopy of trees and night sky. When the snow starts to fall, go skiing or snowboarding at Hunter or Windham, or take to the local trails for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
Purling, NY is situated just south of the village of Cairo, about ten miles west of Catskill.
