One-Story Ranch in Chatham, $95,000
Kandy Harris | May 22, 2015In order to find some five-figure properties this week, we had to put the “beyond” in this week’s theme “Hudson and Beyond.” Aside from this fixer-upper we posted about earlier this week, there’s hardly a bumper crop, so we headed northeast to Chatham, located about a half-hour from Hudson. Chatham is a sweet little community with some great historic buildings, shops, cafes, and close proximity to other places worth visiting in Columbia County, Kinderhook (farmhouses galore and the Martin Van Buren historic site!) and Valatie (waterfall in the middle of town!). And if you’re looking to downsize and simplify your life, this tiny house could fit the bill. We almost passed over it because of the exterior, which is fine but sort of bland. However, we’re glad we stopped to look inside because it’s just as darling as can be. Includes 2 beds/1 bath in a 700 square foot space, living room woodstove, exposed brick, wood floors, a decent-sized kitchen for such a small house, and a little bit of yard space. It’s also walking distance to the hamlet.
34 Houseman Avenue, Chatham (Arthur Lee of Red Rock Inc.)
