Philmont Village Colonial, $195,000
Kandy Harris | July 15, 2014The village of Philmont in the town of Claverack is situated in the heart of Columbia County’s farm country, and while the area is considered off the beaten path (the village is on Route 217, east of Hudson and west of the Taconic Parkway), there are some attractions in and around Philmont that made us give this Colonial for $195,000 a second look. The interior offers equal measures of quirk, coziness, and old-fashioned charm with an ornate marble fireplace as the focal point of the living room. It’s also big, nearly 4,000 square feet, with 5 beds/3 baths on half-an-acre near the center of the village. So these nearby attractions we mentioned? Local 111 Restaurant, a foodie’s paradise, the Co-op Curbside Cafe, where locals can grab an egg sandwich and catch up on the neighborhood news, and the High Falls Conservation Area with 2 miles of trails and Columbia County’s highest waterfall. Sounds worth a daytrip to us.
