Own a Piece of Catskills History for $1.19 million
Kandy Harris | January 19, 2017The Catskill Game Farm opened in 1933 and closed in 2006. During its 73 years of operation, the Game Farm’s 206 acres played host to scores of families (about 500,000/year at their peak) visiting the zoo’s many animals (2000 of them by the time the Game Farm closed). The property was purchased by Ben and Cathy Bellone in 2015 and renamed the Old Game Farm, and, according to TheOldGameFarm.com, the couple planned to turn the old giraffe enclosure into an inn/event space and open up the property as a campground.
Now, it seems the Old Game Farm is back on the market listing for $1,190,000 through Premiere Realty Services. There are a multitude of things happening on the Old Game Farm, including (and this is just an abbreviated list): 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse + apartment, 6-bedroom home (fixer-upper), 12,000 sq. ft. storage building, 6-car garage, 14-stable horse barn with 16 outdoor pens & run-ins, a former rhino house with 12,000 sq. ft., a 9600 sq. ft. giraffe house, garage bays, concession stands, a cafeteria…we mentioned this was the short list, right? There’s a whole lot more.
