Pleasant Valley Victorian Farmhouse, $629,000
Kandy Harris | March 10, 2015Did you know that the Dutchess County town of Pleasant Valley has its own song? These are the lyrics, sung to the tune of California Here We Come:
Pleasant Valley U.S.A … Best town west of Mandalay,
Where folks are friendly on Wappingers Creek,
They come to visit and want to stay another week.
There’s Hyde Park, Millbrook, all the rest,
They’re OK, but you can guess,
We all like our hometown best.
Pleasant Valley, U.S.A.!
We’re still unsure of the first line. Is Pleasant Valley truly the best town west of Mandalay? Regardless of the veracity of such an assertion, Pleasant Valley lives up to its name. It’s definitely pleasant there, situated in a rural landscape with lots of rolling meadows and farmland. And, if you enjoy antique farmhouses, it might be just the location for you. We love this particular farmhouse located on 4.5 acres. Completely restored, it retains its pristine 19th century character while being refreshingly contemporary inside, and the sunny yellow walls are a cheerful touch. Also includes wide-plank wood floors, bay windows, and high ceilings. The property is located close to the Taconic and about 15 minutes from the Poughkeepsie train station. Pleasant Valley here we come…
