Quaint Farmhouse in Ulster Park, $237,500
Kandy Harris | May 20, 2014
Move away from the waterfront, and the real estate prices go down. That’s the case for lots of places in the HV, Ulster Park in Ulster County included. That’s fine. We can live without the direct waterfront access in exchange for a reasonably-priced house on a couple of acres, maybe with a few outbuildings and barns to complete the tableau. Those are just a couple of things we like about this c.1870 farmhouse. What else do we like? The throwback interior, the rocking chair porch, and the Goldilocks size of the property (small enough to maintain, large enough to roam). And what gives us pause? Well, the listing touts that it’s “sufficiently private.” That’s rather subjective, and also, it seems not all that private according to Google Maps. Of course, we understand that a bird’s eye view doesn’t tell the complete story, so we’re giving it the benefit of the doubt. Located about 15 minutes south of Kingston and right on the cusp of the Shaupeneak Ridge park. Lots of Scenic Hudson preserves around Ulster Park/West Park/Esopus. Best get out and pay them a visit. Oh, and by the way, if you like the retro look (we sure do, especially in the kitchen), the house is available furnished.
