Did we intentionally choose a luscious chocolate photo to entice you to attend the Red Hook and the Chocolate Factory Festival this Saturday? Perhaps. Did it work? Give your kids back their Halloween candy and go have some of the real deal from 11am-5pm November 1st. The all-day chocolate-coated affair takes place in the Dutchess County village of Red Hook, with chocolate vendors, chocolate dessert demonstrations, chocolate history lessons, chocolate cooking contests (think Iron Chef, special ingredient chocolate), chocolate tastings, a skateboard race…wait, what? For three minutes, Red Hook’s main drag is closed to traffic for a skateboard race that anyone can enter (pre-registration required). And in the morning, there’s a 5k run, in case you need to burn the calories ahead of time. Live music, children’s activities, and a Wandering Wonka round out the festivities. More info here on the Red Hook Chamber of Commerce website and the Facbook event page. Charlie Bucket would want you to be there.
