Renovated Saugerties Farmhouse for $369K

  |  February 27, 2023

This week, Upstater is visiting Saugerties, a cool little town situated at the confluence of the Esopus Creek and the Hudson River in the northeastern end of Ulster County.

Today’s pick is a funky farmhouse that’s nearly a century old, but has been cleverly updated—renovated about six years ago—and is move-in ready. It’s got two bedrooms and two baths in 1,300 square feet. The exterior’s stone foundation and gray siding, with white-linteled windows, are très traditional, but a hint of what to expect can be found with the lime-green front door.

The living room is just off the small foyer. It’s got wide-plank floors and gray walls.

The kitchen is tucked toward the back of the house. It has a heavy wood beam across the white-painted tongue-and-groove ceiling, and a sleek, wide-plank floor. Another door here leads to a small side porch.

The kitchen itself has white cabinets and appliances; a granite-look countertop; and a center island with a butcher-block top and barnwood on one side.

The other side of the island has a cabinet and storage drawers. This view shows the amount of room in the eat-in part of the kitchen: Enough for a table, chairs, and a mudroom-like setup.

Behind the living room is this roomy bathroom, with a stunning exposed-stone wall and a half-column of brick. The vanity is large and has a single sink.

On the other side of that half-wall is a walk-in shower with dark marbled tile.

A laundry room adjacent to the bathroom has a work sink, a washer and dryer, mechanicals like the water heater, and another exposed stone wall.

Head up the white-painted stairs in the foyer and you’ll reach the second floor. This bedroom is bright with white walls, a white-painted plank floor, and lots of large windows.

This room is technically a den, but it’s being used as a guest room.

The secondary bedroom is bright and similar in decor to the first bedroom, but not as large.

The second-floor bath is a show-stopper, with a marbled-tile floor, a clawfoot tub, pedestal sink with vintage-look double taps, and two large windows. The plank walls are painted white.

There’s more than a third of an acre here, and the backyard is a beautifully terraced oasis with stone steps and walls made from stone and railroad ties. There’s a waterfall across the street, and the property is a 12-minute drive to downtown Woodstock.
