Rental of the Week: Sky Meadow in Livingston Manor, $1500/week

  |  June 19, 2012

We think this is a great bargain for what you’re getting for this barn in Livingston Manor (Sullivan County). In fact, we have it bookmarked for our OWN future vacation, because a full week (7 nights) in a lovely, secluded get-away with its own pool  in a town that is called “The Gateway to the Catskills” for $1500 (peak season) seems like a good idea to us.

The nitty-gritty: The Sky Meadow barn is located on 71 acres near Willowemoc Creek, which is a great place to trout fish, if you’re into that sort of thing. The barn was built to be energy efficient and outfitted with solar and geothermal, and the property includes hiking trails and a raised-bed vegetable garden, which the owners generous encourage guests to harvest and use during their stay.

There are 2 bedrooms that could be divided into more, 3 baths (master bath has a tub and walk-in shower). There’s no cell service in the area, which we consider a bonus (others may disagree). Wifi and a landline are available, just in case you find yourself in the throes of technology withdrawal.

Some of the details in the pictures are really cool. For example, check out this bed frame made from from an old piano:

Take a moment to visit their website and peruse the other pictures, not to mention rate and availability information. Looks like most of July is pretty much shot, but there’s still some left for the end of this month and the month of August.
