Rental of the Week: White Pond, Livingston Manor

  |  January 22, 2013

Now that the holidays have passed and we’ve had a moment to catch our breath, we’re feeling a little of the winter blahs. A weekend getaway to somewhere secluded up in the Catskills could cure our cabin fever, at least temporarily, and White Pond in the Sullivan County hamlet of Livingston Manor looks like just the right place for it.

Here’s the skinny: It’s set on 25 acres right next to Sonoma Falls, a nice place to snowshoe and take in the scenery, like gorgeous frozen waterfalls. Or, you could just stay inside where it’s cozy in front of the fireplace as you watch the snow fall outside. If you decide to go in the summer, you can fish, ride horses, go swimming, or hike around.

The interior of White Pond is impressive: Radiant heat floors to keep your feet toasty in the winter, outdoor access in each of the three bedrooms, fire place, nice kitchen, plus an additional 1-bedroom cabin on the property.

During the winter, you can rent it for a 2 night-night (minimum) weekend for $600, or $3,000/month (includes heat and utilities). Naturally, the rates go up in the summer.
