Rockin' Steady in Rhinebeck
Kandy Harris | December 7, 2016
Cathy Gins has been collecting rocks her whole life. What started out as a quirky habit has turned into a full blown artform for the Rhinebeck resident, jewelry designer, and photographer. So much so, in fact, that Cathy’s husband Robb, also a designer, converted a former peacock house on their property into the “Rhinebeck Rock Palace”, a place where Cathy can display her impressive collection of “rock families,” which is…well, pretty much exactly how it sounds:
Kind of calming, right? Cathy gets that. She says that while she loves the “refined beauty of jewelry,” she treasures the rocks’ “simplicity and grounding power.” Want to check it out in person? The Rock Palace is open by appointment only. For more information contact Cathy Gins, cathy@designforjoy.com, or 845-876-7644. Meanwhile, enjoy a peek into Cathy’s world:
