Rockpine in Eldred, Sullivan County: All the Adirondack Great Cabin vibes, just 1.5 hours to Manhattan.

  |  February 25, 2025

Welcome to Rockpine Cabin in Eldred, in the woods of Sullivan County.

The house exudes Adirondack Great Cabin vibes, although it was built just 30 years ago. It’s got porches galore, including a wraparound one lit with a string of Edison bulbs.

The interior is brightly lit with sunlight, which bounces off the woodtone floor and the knotty pine walls.

A marble-block backsplash simultaneously reflects and absorbs light in the kitchen. Gray cabinets echo that theme, topped with white countertops. Wood-topped red stools surround a center table.

The living room is cocooned in tongue-and-groove wood paneling.

Stairs lead to the second floor from here.

Built-ins are a bonus.

There’s one bedroom on the main floor. It has a wall of closets and a picturesque window, along with a navy-blue accent wall.

This bedroom’s a bit tight.

Wow, we love this bathroom. It pays homage to the home’s ethos with horizontal wood paneling, but with modern conveniences like an oversized, walk-in shower and a classy trough-sink vanity.

Oh, here’s some more paneling, this time vertical, in the third bedroom. Two bedrooms are upstairs, and one is on the main floor.

And there’s a lil nook for a desk next to the bed.

A marble-walled shower has a soap/shampoo/conditioner station. In case you didn’t catch the wood block with an IG handle on the dining table, yep, this place has served as an Airbnb. But it doesn’t need to stay an Airbnb.

The main-floor bathroom also has stacked washing/drying machines.

And yeah, there’s a requisite firepit. It’s perfect for sharing stories and waiting for the fireflies to appear.

The property totals more than five acres, and it’s not too far from main roads. For a lovely dinner and masterful piano tunes, the Eldred Preserve is just five miles from here.
