RoTW: Putnam Valley Treehouse, $200-225/night
Kandy Harris | September 10, 2013We love the idea of a quiet, romantic getaway in a cozy space perched high above the ground, complete with a huge deck so you can enjoy the woodsy view. This one is located in Putnam Valley in Putnam County, not far from Sagamore Lake but plenty far away from noise and other people. The main loft bedroom looks breezy and light-filled with 18-foot ceilings, and the second bedroom looks comfy, too. The owners took the time to outfit the treehouse with a record player and a hand-picked selection of vinyl and a big collection of cookbooks in case you need some inspiration for meals made in the kitchen. Love the mid-century design sensibilities, as well, right down to the molded plastic mod dining chairs, shag carpeting, and loungy furniture. It looks solidly booked throughout the entire month of November, but there are some dates available in October, just in time to watch the leaves change. Sleeps four guests total. Requires a two-night minimum stay, or three nights during holiday weekends. Located approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes from NYC.
