1970s-Inspired Roxbury Retreat, $315K
Kandy Harris | May 8, 2020This lounge-worthy great room is part of a Roxbury Contemporary retreat, Also included? Lots of options for occupying this Catskills property.
As we wrap up our week exploring our favorite quarantine-worthy homes for sale, we find ourselves in Delaware County, NY, just outside of Roxbury village, where this four-bedroom/four-bath home lives on 6.3 acres. Right from the entrance into the ground-floor foyer, it’s clear that this house brings a lot to the table for its relatively-modest price…
…but it’s the second-floor, open-scheme great room that ultimately won of us over, with high ceilings, big windows, and an open dining room/kitchen with access to a covered porch and deck via glass sliders.
The master suite – complete with mountain views – is tucked-away in its own wing…
…separate from the other three bedrooms. Also on the second floor is a loft that overlooks the living room.
Here’s part of what makes this property so attractive: It also comes with an attached-but-private one-bedroom, one-bath apartment with its own entrance.
Meanwhile, outside on the grounds, there are plenty of open spaces to roam and enjoy the stunning Catskill-Mountain setting.
You might be tempted to view this home as a potential rental property, but allow us to float another option your way: Let’s say you’ve got a college-age kid who spent the last two months living at home after the COVID-19 pandemic closed campuses. Or, you’ve got one about to start college, but, with the prospect of in-person attendance uncertain, might have to start by taking on-line courses in the fall. If you lived here, you can put them their own apartment while keeping them safe at home. Got in-laws living with you? Move them into the apartment, instead.
