Roxbury Glass Shell House, $349,000
Kandy Harris | February 23, 2015This glass shell house in the Delaware County town of Roxbury showed up on Upstater’s radar almost exactly 3 years ago. Back then, it was listed for $599,000, and we’ve been watching the price creep ever-so-slowly downward since then. It’s interesting that nobody has bitten the line yet for this property. We adore the way it looks and the amount of natural lighting/sun warmth that just pours in through the crescent-shaped wall of windows in spite of our trepidation about keeping all that glass clean. So, what gives? Why hasn’t it sold? Are cool curvy glass houses located in the picturesque Catskill Mountains not a big draw? Is it the taxes? They nearly brush up against $8000/year, but that’s not that unusual for these parts. If we had $350,000 and a longing for something completely different, we’d be sniffing around this place like crazy. What’s your take on the Roxbury shell house?
