Who Wants to Give this Saugerties House some Much-Needed Love?
Kandy Harris | June 15, 2018Happy Five-Figure Friday! This week’s edition features this potential-packed fixer-upper just north of Saugerties village…
The listing language describes this house as “tired.” That description made us here at Upstater a little bit sad. Dating back to the 1890s, the two-bedroom home needs some work, including water remediation in the basement, as well as back stone porch repairs and garage roof replacement. However, we see the potential for a sweet renovation for someone up to the task.
Now that we’ve addressed the issues, let’s look at its attributes. The current owner clearly spent some time on the wood floors, so those look great. It’s spacious enough for a small family or a couple, with an additional room that could be a third bedroom, and the yard is a quarter-acre in size, plenty of space and sunlight to start a garden. And, the MLS describes as being in “good” condition, which means you can likely live in it while you fix the problems.
Kitchen appliances, dishwasher, and washer/dryer also come with the house. Speaking of this kitchen, it’s spacious but could use an update.
We love the stone porch, but you can see where it needs to be fixed from the photos…
Finally, the detached garage (the one that needs a roof replacement) is wired with electric, making it a strong candidate for workshop/studio status. The listing goes on to suggest that this would make a good investment property, but we’re going a different way. We think someone who has some cash set aside and can do the renovating themselves should snatch up this home, and live in it, full time.
Located just five minutes outside of Saugerties village, close to the Hudson River, Catskill, Kingston, Woodstock, and Hudson, NY.
