Saugerties Log Cabin With Lots of Wood, $375K

  |  May 19, 2022

We’re headed to Saugerties today to visit this adorable log home across the street from the Esopus Creek.

The handcrafted branch latticework on the front porch railings hints at the woodsy wonder inside this three-bedroom cabin. A quirky detail hits you right off the bat: The front of the house faces the backyard, not the street.

Open the cheery green front door (there’s a matching side door, too) off the front porch and into an open great room. Lots of knotty pine here from top to bottom, and a sizable woodstove that’s sure to heat things up when it’s wintry outside. The cathedral ceilings add airiness to all of that wood; an open loft upstairs overlooks this room.

In the kitchen, we’d go against the grain (pun intended) and paint those upper cabinets, at least, to break up the woodtones. There’s room here for a dining table and chairs. The appliances are all stainless steel, which does offer a nice contrast.

There’s a half-bath on the main level.

Two bedrooms are also on the main level. Again, a painted accent wall would work well here.

The bedrooms have beamed ceilings and good-sized closets.

From the kitchen/living area, a wide staircase leads to the primary bedroom suite.

Skylights throughout the roofline let the sunshine pour in.

The primary bedroom has a cathedral ceiling, a ceiling fan, and closets with sliders.

The only full bath is up here, too, with a single-vanity sink and a tub/shower combination. Like the main level, the upstairs has baseboard heating.

The 1,440-square-foot house on nearly a half-acre seems to be a steal at $375,000, but the listing says it’s being sold “As-Is.” Still, this one is sure to be snapped up quickly.
