Charming Country Church in Sharon Springs, NY, $125K
Kandy Harris | January 20, 2021
Heaven knows we can’t resist this bright-and-cheery Sharon Springs church ready to be converted into a new home or business.
Situated in Otsego County, this c.1830s building is no longer a church, but it could still be something inspired. Perhaps it can be a commercial/mixed-use property, or maybe just the coolest church-turned-private-residence – with original belltower still intact – in all of Central NY.

The 1,900-square-foot interior is in fine shape, with a gorgeous chancel and curved alter apse, as well as pressed tin ceilings with period medallions, hardwood floors, and stained glass windows. If this were going to be our home, we would hang onto as many of these antique, ecclesiastical details as possible…minus the pews, of course. There’s also an enclosed chorus room.

The church addition dates back to the late 1990s and features a commercial kitchen, an open meeting/potluck room, and half-bath, all accessible via entrance ramp.

The flat, grassy property is takes up a full acre of land on Route 20 just west of Sharon Springs hamlet. From here, historic Cooperstown – home of the Baseball Hall of Fame – is 20 miles away.
