An inn set within a shingle-style Victorian mansion in the Catskill Mountains featuring guest rooms with art and literature-inspired names? Count us in. Spillian in Fleischmanns, Delaware County (GMAP) clearly has a number on this one, so naturally, we’re passing it along to you. Formerly the estate of Charles Louis Fleischmann of the Fleischmanns Yeast Products fame, Spillian once consisted of 5 houses, 2 of which still remain. Owners Leigh Melander and Mark Somerfield have careers that have spanned the fields of the arts, music, dance, theater tech, and building/renovating, primarily in the west coast. In fact, Somerfield was responsible for Spillian’s extensive renovations, which took him a year to complete. Nowadays, Melander and Somerfield, who are married, spend most of their time at Spillian and working with community organizations.
