Stick Victorian Style in Hudson

This classic example of Stick Victorian style is a gem in the city of Hudson.
Monochrome gray on the exterior highlights the varied textures. Fish-scale shingles on the arched gable, filigree cutouts on the side of the porch roof, a sunburst above the portico; spindles that don’t quite touch the railing on the porch: All of these are just some of the details inherent in this home.
The natural burled oak double doors pop against that gray tone.

The fireplace in this parlor is black to match the wood-burning insert in an otherwise brighter-hued color scheme.

A fireplace decorates this parlor, too, but we only get to see a smidge of it. We love the ornate woodwork here, too, especially the carved, triple-paned alcove. The walls are papered in aviary-themed red and white.
Charcoal-and-chalk-like paper meets white wainscoting in this moody half-bath.
Dramatic, cut-glass pendants drip down the stairwell on the way to the second floor, where a bright hallway is lavished in peaceful, minty green.
The shared bath has rustic natural wood on its wainscoting and the marble-topped vanity. A glass-doored shower is a modern touch.

…that’s certainly unusual and unusually beautiful. That marble-and-chrome vanity is intricate; a partial wall separates it from a clawfoot tub that cozies up to yet another fireplace.
This bright room is welcoming with its light-green walls. Alas, we fear the feline is not included in the purchase of this house.
The Chinoiserie decoration on the fireplace in this bedroom is stunning. The fair green tones throughout the bedroom pick up a similar shade in what looks like abalone shell that’s inset into the black background of the fireplace surround.
There’s another entire, yoga-worthy floor at the top of the house. It’s spare, clean, and gorgeous with a half-moon window and rustic wood-plank flooring. A tower room up here overlooks the beautiful neighborhood. The 2,524-square-foot house sits on 0.07 acre just two blocks and around the corner from Warren Street and Spotty Dog Books and Ale. It’ll take a pretty penny to buy it: The home is listed at $1,525,000.
