Stories: Home and Away

  |  May 27, 2016

The Woodstock Framing Gallery (WFG) is hosting an art exhibit focusing on the life of artist Anne Crowley entitled Stories: Home and Away beginning on Saturday, May 28th and lasting until July 24th. Born in Dublin Ireland in 1960, Crowley was born into a family of artists. Her grandfather, Liam O’Rinn has been showcased in Europe. In 2000, Crowley journeyed away from the bright lights of New York City, (where she had lived since 1983) to take in the picturesque surroundings of the Hudson Valley which she herself has called “visually compelling”.

Sneha Kapadia, owner of WFG and organizer of the event, has known Crowley since 2009 when she moved to the area and eventually purchased the establishment from its previous owner. Originally a district Attorney based out of Manhattan, she found it easy to transition into owning an art gallery because she already possessed a pre-existing curiosity for art and was “fairly knowledgeable about contemporary art” by her own admission. During the course of corresponding with her, Kapadia explained that the art shown in the gallery reflects her own personal artistic interests. “The art that I show at WFG, I hope, reflects my tastes and tends to be pretty varied.”

For those in attendance on opening day, an artist’s reception will be held from 5 to 7 PM so that interested patrons can ask Crowley questions about her work. Handicap parking is available and there is a ramp for those that need it to get into the building. So, stop on by the Woodstock Framing Gallery and experience the life, times and muses of Anne Crowley while the opportunity presents itself.
