Sunday afternoon gets a bad rap. Saturday’s passed, and Monday’s cold Vader-like carapace lies in wait, right around the corner. Your only hope for survival is to do something fun to close out the weekend, and a trip to Storm King Art Center is just the antidote to those Sunday Afternoon Blues. The 500-acre sculpture park in the Hudson Valley will give you a day to remember as you wander the trails featuring works by some of the world’s most acclaimed artists. And, on Sunday, August 9th, your admission price ($15/adults, $8/ages 5-8, free for 4 & under) includes admittance to Storm King’s 2015 Outdoor Concert Series, featuring performances by Sonic Youth founding member Lee Ranaldo and opener Kevin Morby.

Ranaldo’s post-Sonic Youth career (the band went on hiatus 4 years ago) has been one of an introspective singer-songwriter, performing with his band the Dust and partner Leah Singer. Kevin Morby’s recent album Still Life chronicles the musician’s history performing on the road both with other bands and as a solo artist. Show starts at 2pm and takes place among Storm King’s sculpture collection and graceful rolling meadows.

The 2015 Concert Series, co-organized with Ground Control Touring, continues Sunday, September 20th with The Feelies with special guests Alex Bleeker and the Freaks. Park admission includes concert admittance. Stop dreading Sunday afternoons for the rest of the summer. Visit Storm King Art Center for art, landscapes, and music in the Hudson Valley.
