Summer on the Pond in Red Hook? Well, If You Insist…

This restored farmhouse in Red Hook, Dutchess County looks like just the place we would want to take friends and family. First of all, we see all kinds of places for the kids to run and play (swing sets, fields, it’s even got a climbing wall), not to mention a swimming pond with driving dock. But what really struck our fancy was full access to the property’s organic vegetable and flower garden, which means cooking meals using the freshest of ingredients already growing out the ground. The house sleeps up to 14 guests if you use the fold-out couches, 10 if you’re sticking to the beds (it’s 4 beds/4 baths). There’s also ice skating on the pond during the winter, but please don’t make us think about winter just yet. Availability looks for early June, a few dates in July, and the third week in August.
