This Sunday: Fareground, Beacon’s “Pay What You Can” Pop-up Restaurant, Pops Up Again

It’s food activism. It’s farm-to-table. It’s a pop-up café (in case you missed it, pop-up café is the new food truck). And last month’s menu read like a foodie’s dream: Butternut squash soup with a spiced pear sauce, a variety of frittatas with roasted potatoes and sautéed greens, buttermilk biscuits (or gluten-free bread!) with homemade peach and plum jams, seasonal rainbow slaw with red cabbage, watermelon radish, carrots, mint and parsley. You got our attention, Fareground. Here’s the deal: the last Sunday of every month, community collaborators, volunteers, chefs and regional food producers come together to host a communal “pay what you can” meal at the Beacon Community Resource Center. Their mission: to nourish the community by providing delicious, locally-sourced, affordable and nutritious meals. We like their style.
