  |  June 7, 2017

Looking for a place to peacefully meditate in a beautiful Catskills setting? Kadampa Meditation Center, located in southern Sullivan County, offers just exactly that, as well as classes, retreats, a cafe, and bookstore all situated on one 82-acre site in the western Catskill Mountains.

Plan a weekend around visiting the Buddhist meditation center on Sundays from 11am to 12:30pm for Prayers for World Peace class, followed by a vegetarian lunch at 1pm in the Main House dining room. Lunch is $5 and reservations are required (call 845-856-9000 to do so). Stop into the World Peace Cafe, which opens at 9am, before classes for coffee, tea, or snacks.

Need a weekend experience? On Friday, July 14, Kadampa will host Friday Night Meditation and Meal with reception starting at 6pm, guided meditation beginning at 6:30, and a gourmet vegetarian meal served at 7pm. Cost is $20 or $35 for two participants. Then, on Saturday morning, July 15, the center is offering a Learn to Meditate course, which runs from 10am to 1:30pm. Need accommodations? Stay at Kadampa for the weekend.

There’s more, too, including kids classes, in-depth retreats, and courses. For more information on Kadampa Meditation Center’s events and classes, visit www.kadampanewyork.org. There’s no place like “OM.”
