The Famous People of Hudson
Upstater | November 1, 2013
We read over on the Hudson blog Gossips of Rivertown that Tommy Stinson, of the [great] 80s band The Replacements was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Stinson, like so many upstanding artsy citizens, lives in Hudson. So we got to wondering what other luminaries have set down roots there. Sam Pratt’s Hudson blog led us to the names of a few others, and the Times Union crafted this list: “Stinson’s neighbor is Grammy-nominee Meshell Ndegeocello, and down the road is Melissa Auf Der Maur, the bassist for Hole and Smashing Pumpkins. Lenny Kravitz‘s longtime producer,Henry Hirsch, turned an 1869 church into a recording studio. Members of indie bands Vetiver and Buke and Gass are now Hudsonians.”
This all makes sense, since Brooklyn has transformed from home to the creative class to the settlement of the uber rich — why not go north? Anybody else seeing illustrious upstaters around town?
