The Roundhouse in Shandaken: An O.G. tiny house with tons of character.

Cottage-core.
Tired of looking around for the perfect tiny house? The Roundhouse in Shandaken could be your destination.
This c.1934 cottage has been in the same family since it was built. Just 887 square feet, it has one bedroom and one bath. The exterior is adorable: A red-pillared porch is welcoming, and a tiny dormer in the same color sits on top of the roof.

The door is more Midcentury Modern.
A diamond-pane front door is flanked by sashed windows. The floor is painted white, while the walls carry an aged tone of wood that’s been around awhile.

Built-in shelving saves space.
A wood-burning stove provides heat in the living room.

That woodstove vents out the window.
The decor is vintage; we’d love the chance to bring in different furniture to complement the ’30s-era ethos.

There’s a feeling of home here.
Yup, it certainly is a round house.

The hall bisects the house.
Down that hallway, the kitchen is the heart of this home.

This room is warm and bright.
A dining area has a newer hardwood floor.

White cabinets are classic.
The kitchen, too, has a finished hardwood floor. The cabinetry and sink all appear to be well-maintained, in a vintage way.

A vintage kitchen, indeed.
It’s not huge, and yeah, it hugs the curve of the house, but it’s got all the basics.

Cottage-cozy.
Pale, wall-to-wall carpeting is soft underfoot in the bedroom, which is surprisingly roomy.

Sweet dreams could be had here.
The light-colored walls give off cottage vibes.

It’s got all the essentials.
A semi-circular shower stall and a pedestal sink highlight the modern bathroom. The sewage system is a cesspool, and the new owner would need to spring for a new well for water, according to the listing.

Yep, we’re getting hobbit vibes, too.
The rubble foundation is true to the 1930s era.

A house where fairytales could be written.
The cottage sits on 1.93 acres on the edge of the Shandaken Wild Forest, close to hiking trails and under 15 minutes from Belleayre Mountain Ski Center.
