This Tiny Home in Livingston Manor is More Than Just an RV Upgrade

Well, here’s something you don’t see every day.

Upstater is at a tiny house on wheels—that just happens to be on the market with a 3.51-acre lot—in Livingston Manor. The 150-square-foot, wood-sided home was named the “Best Tiny House in NJ” in 2017, according to the listing. Pretty much since then, it’s been parked at this bucolic spot and is awaiting its next owner.

Shiplap walls and a span of brown kitchen cabinetry greet you at the blue front door. Casement windows let in lots of light.

Open shelves and hooks above the induction cooktop and the sink offer up more storage. A ladder leads up…

…to a lofted bedroom.

If you’re wary of heights, you can leave the loft for guests and roll right into bed at the far end of the tiny house.

This looks like it might be a full-size (double) bed. Natural wood planking gives rustic vibes, and a casement window eases claustrophobic feelings.

A sliding barn door does alternate duty of closing the entrance to either a closet or this bathroom, the listing says. The toilet is an incinerating toilet; water is provided via a gravity feed from an artesian well, and the house connects to a 300-gallon gray-water holding tank. An on-demand propane system heats the house’s water, and overall heating comes from a 500-watt wall heater (the house’s electric is metered with a roadside panel, plus there’s available cable/internet access).

A screenhouse offers more room to stretch out…

…and a 10’x10′ shed has electric power, a woodstove, and other workshop-worthy amenities.

A 100-gallon livestock tank has been converted to a brookside hot tub, though the listing doesn’t say how it’s powered.

The 3.51 acres are naturally beautiful.

And it’s magical at night.

Though secluded, the property is five miles from Livingston Manor and a pint at Catskill Brewery. A few more miles on the road take you to downtown Roscoe. Either way, you’re in great fly-fishing country, and not far from the highway, too. It probably won’t last long on the market, listed at $139,000 for the house and the acreage.
