Baby, it’s cold outside. Not as cold as it’s going to get this winter, but still…it’s just chilly enough to want to cozy up and get warm.
This house, in West Camp (just north of Saugerties), has a couple hot options. Plus, it’s funky-cute and has Hudson River views.
See what we mean?
The front door is located right on the wraparound deck. It opens to this two-level kitchen/dining area. No fewer than seven wood-clad skylights soak the entire one-level house in sunlight. The wood planking continues throughout the ceiling, punctuated with heavier dark beams. The flooring, too, is hardwood in a honey tone, as are the kitchen cabinets. Stainless steel appliances break up the wood theme.
From the kitchen, you get a peek at a wood-paneled living room and an equally appointed sunroom.
Ahh….a wood-burning fireplace, and a view of the river through a wall of windows and glass sliders.
If the fireplace isn’t warm enough, pop into the sunroom and sink into the indoor hot tub, which also has great views.
The 1,056-square-foot house has two bedrooms. This one belies the Midcentury Modern-age of the home’s 1959 birth with more wood paneling.
The primary bedroom, too, speaks a MidMod language.
The bathroom’s been updated, with a gray marble floor and tiled wainscoting. The tub/shower combo has glass sliders enclosing it; a skinny pedestal sink is sleek, but we wonder where linen storage would happen here.
Outside, there’s a long flight of stairs up to the roof of the house. The Zillow listing shows an older image of the house with a railing surrounding the roof. That railing is gone now, but we imagine the river views from up there are killer.
The house is on more than seven acres, which include this above-ground heated pool with a fully-fenced deck. A detached, two-car garage offers storage space. The area is woodsy and quiet, yet it’s just a seven-minute drive to downtown Saugerties.
