Richard Edelman’s Stolen Portraits at the Center for Photography at Woodstock

The Center for Photography at Woodstock is hosting Richard Edelman’s exhibition Stolen Portraits, featuring fictional portraits of creative people in the region. The series includes collaborations with Rebekah Creshkoff, Jen Dragon, Elaine Mayes, and others. An opening reception will take place Saturday, February 20 at 5 pm. Edelman’s photographs are included in public collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Canadian Centre for Architecture, the Brooklyn Museum, the Bibliothèque Nationale, and the Samuel Dorsky Museum, while other work can be found at the MoMA artist book collection, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry. Stitch and Sip: Samplers 1.0 Quilting Workshop at Olana

Olana State Historic Site, the home of celebrated painter Frederic Edwin Church in Catskill, is hosting a quilting workshop this Saturday, February 20 from 4 to 6 pm, as part of a series taught by Sandra Feck. Feck is the Vice President of the Capital District Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Church and his wife Isabel collected a variety of embroidered textiles and quilts while at Olana, as they both loved color and texture. This workshop will mix needlework with socialization, building on a long tradition of quilting as a social function. Learn more at olana.org.

New York in Bloom at the New York State Museum in Albany

The New York State Museum in Albany is hosting its 25th annual New York in Bloom celebration this weekend, Friday through Sunday, February 19 – 21, from 9:30 am to 5 pm. Hundreds of floral arrangements and garden galleries will be displayed throughout the museum. Activities include music, lectures and demonstrations, illustration and design tips, and much more.
