alexander The Alexander String Quartet at the West Kortright Centre

The West Kortright Centre (WKC) in East Meredith is hosting a chamber music concert this Saturday, September 19 at 7 pm featuring The Alexander String Quartet. The quartet, formed by Zakarias Grafilo (violin), Frederick Lifsitz (violin), Paul Yarbrough (viola), and Sandy Wilson (cello), won the London International String Quartet Competition in 1985. This weekend they will perform Mozart’s String Quartet No. 22 in B-flat Major, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 3 in F Major, and Beethoven’s “Razumovsky” Quartet No. 9 in C Major. City of the Hills Arts & Music Festival

The City of Oneonta is hosting its 13th annual City of the Hills Arts & Music Festival Saturday, September 19 from 11 am to 6 pm. The event, hosted by the Community Arts Network of Oneonta (CANO), features over twenty artists and artisans who will present works ranging from painting and photography to ceramics and jewelry. Community Day at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site

The Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill is hosting its annual Community Day event this Sunday, September 20 from 1 to 4 pm, an opportunity to see Cole’s home and studios free of charge. The galleries will be open to the public. River Crossings exhibit, on view through November 1, features the works of twenty-eight contemporary artists including Chuck Close, Lynn Davis, Cindy Sherman, Maya Lin, and Martin Puryear.
