After you catch the July 4th fireworks at Margaretville Fireman’s Field Days (starts at 10:30 and here’s the GMAP), hang around Delaware County and check out a festival or two. Or three. Here’s what’s going on during the holiday weekend:
Stagecoach Run Art Festival, Treadwell
The hamlet of Treadwell Center is located 20 minutes south of Onteora, and this weekend, artists will be opening their homes and studios to the public for a tour. Most of the artists’ spaces are along the Old Stagecoach Road, walking distance from the hamlet. There will also be venues in Meredith and Franklin. Download the brochure for more details, including a map. Stagecoach Run is July 5&6, 10am to 5pm.
This arts and crafts festival will be held at the Bovina Community Center and will also include music and food. The proceeds from the festival’s bake sale will go to the Brown Bat Movement, which helps create bat habitats in order to bolster the bat population. Help the ecosystem, buy some goodies. July 5& 6.
Roxbury Sidewalk Festival, Roxbury
The yearly event is sponsored by The Greater Roxbury Learning Initiative (or, GRLIC) and takes place all along Main Street, Roxbury on Saturday, July 5 10am-3pm. There will be music, food, vendors, and children’s activities. Great chance to acquaint yourself to this charming little village.
Fairs and festivals are a fun way to experience Catskill towns. Any other things happening around Delaware County this weekend? Let us know in the comments.
