Tivoli Victorian, $1.45 mill
Kandy Harris | May 7, 2014If you drive through the village of Tivoli in Dutchess County (directly across the Hudson from Saugerties) all the way to the end of Broadway, eventually, you’ll find yourself at the river’s edge. But if you take a sharp left just before you get there, you’ll be in front of the old Tivoli post office, which has been transformed into one of our favorite properties this week. We hesitate to overuse the word “perfection” too much, but this three-story Victorian just seems to hit all the right notes. Ornate on the outside, but not at all fussy on the inside. A touch of modernity here and there, but still able to maintain its original charm. And to top it all off, a rooftop deck with a view of the Hudson. Also includes terraced gardens on a half-acre lot. It’s located less than a mile from the center of the village, but those who prefer to hoof it, take note: It’s uphill to the village, and there’s little to no shoulder. You might not want to look at the taxes if you don’t want to ruin the fantasy.
